The Brisbane Lantern Festival (Laternenfest) is back, bigger and better in 2025 at an all-new venue!

Laternenfest is the primary annual fundraiser for the Brisbane German Language School (BGLS), a community organisation which prides itself on promoting the culture and language of German-speaking countries (Germany, Switzerland and Austria).

A significant event on the Brisbane German cultural calendar, Laternenfest returns on Saturday, 7 June 2025 and is taking over The Gap State High School.

Held from 3 pm to 7pm, Laternenfest 2025 will feature a fantastic line-up of family-friendly activities including lantern-making workshops, live German music, a big raffle, entertainment and more!

And forget about cooking dinner as there will be delicious German favourites like Bratwurst, Roesti and Glühwein to enjoy during the afternoon!

After the sun has set, you can put your newly made lantern to use with the famous lantern parade (formalities starting at 6 pm).

How to Get There:
The Gap State High School is located at 1020 Waterworks Rd, The Gap QLD 4061.

The nearest bus stop is Waterworks Road at Gap High School, Stop 34, located a 2-minute walk from the school.

Limited street parking is available, for access to The Gap State High School via the Q block. Please respect the school's neighbours by avoiding driveways and observing parking signs. School car parks will not be accessible to the public on the day.
