It's time to put your making skills to the test. Let's use some basic household ingredients to make something truly decadent and indulgent. You can make this for yourself, a friend, your sister or your mother. Grab the kids and get them involved as well. Not only is this an opportunity to save some money, but it is also a friendly reminder of how important it is to slow things down and smell the .......coffee!


Coffee Body Scrub Recipe
Four tablespoons of coffee grinds
Four tablespoons of brown sugar
Two tablespoons of coconut oil
Three drops of vanilla essence


How easy is that? Use a small recycled jar with a screw-top lid. Place all the ingredients inside and stir until a wonderfully dark and rich body scrub appears. Your nose will confirm the combination is a winner. Pop on the lid and add a few sweet stickers that are most likely gathering dust in your children's rooms. You can make up some labels or tie the jar with some recycled ribbons or raffia. Be creative and keep natural colours and themes in mind. You don't need to worry about a list of ingredients as it's pretty easy to remember what is inside.


The kids and I made quite a few jars. We have given some away and kept some in the shower. It feels lovely on dry skin and is very soothing and moisturising. The aroma in a hot shower as the steam catches the coffee and vanilla is super relaxing and great in the hours leading up to a perfect night's sleep. Most of all, there is that nice feeling inside that you made this, that is worth your time making it, that it involves recycling old coffee grinds and jars, and that it is very cheap to make.

Perhaps you can go that one step further and google some card-making ideas , make up a few jars of this Coffee Scrub, and treat your loved ones to stylish and touching gifts. If you are feeling really creative, combine a jar of this body scrub, with some homemade bath salts, a few handmade chocolates, and a bottle of wine for your sister's next birthday.
